Getting Involved

Patient and Public Involvement within the NHS is a priority. Section 242 of the Health and Social Care Act 2006 (formerly Section 1 of the Health and Social Care Act 2001) places a duty on NHS organisations to involve and consult patients and the public:

Not just when a major change is proposed, but in the ongoing planning of services
Not just when considering a proposal but in developing that proposal, and
In decisions that may affect the operation of services
